Adolescent Therapy (ages 11-19)
When children move into the adolescent stage, it can be quite overwhelming and challenging for teens and parents alike. Teens experience not only bodily and hormonal changes that impact moods, but they will begin to see and experience the world from a new vantage point that can bring lots of questions, challenges, and conflicts in school with friends, siblings, and parents. Adolescent Therapy is a holistic approach that provides psycho education, self-understanding, nutrition education, parent and child relationship therapy, and implementing community resources to support change, healing, and growth.
Adolescent Therapy doesn’t have to be just talk therapy. It can use a variety of expressive modalities to explore themselves, family life, challenges, and other issues. A mindful meditation Mindsight approach developed by Dan Siegel called, “The Wheel of Awareness” can support an adolescent's ability to develop strong and positive relationships with others as they are getting to know one’s self. Skills that develop through the this meditation practice are insight, empathy, and integration while directing our attention to our individual inner and outer worlds that support a healthy mind.
